Pricing Information
One of the main reasons I got into shearing was because I had such a difficult time finding an affordable shearer who was willing to come out to the farm to do my small flock. With that in mind I always strive to keep my prices down for the sake of the small producer and hobby farmer. Especially in these times, limiting costs is as important to you as it is to me and for that reason I keep my prices low and simple so that you know exactly what your paying before I get there.
Price List
Show up fee
- $75 show up fee for any drive up to 3 hours from Westminster Maryland.
- Anything over 3 hours- contact me for a quote.
- I reserve the right to charge $100 as a show up fee for out of area and short notice calls.
Shearing Pricing
- I charge a flat fee of $5.00 per sheep or goat regardless of size, age, or gender.
- For flocks over 40 sheep or goats my pricing is subject to change to keep it affordable. Typically I charge about $3.75 per head plus a $50 my show up fee. Please contact me if to discuss your flocks needs and cost concerns.
Additional Services
- For services including hoof trimming, vaccinating, crutching etc...I will add a set fee of $15 regardless of how much work needs to be done.
- If these services are needed for larger flocks then a separate visit needs to be scheduled because doing them at the time of shearing is too time consuming and draining for all involved. The charge for this is usually an additional show up fee and a dollar per animal handled.
- For services preformed for small flocks (<20) with no shearing involved then just a show up fee will suffice.
- Again if you have any questions about my pricing or the needs of your animals, feel free to contact me at any time and I would be more then happy to help you find an affordable option and if I am not able to do the job then I can certainly help you find someone else that fits your needs.
Please note that these prices are subject to change, particularly at the beginning of the year. I always try to be resonable with my prices so feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns. I will always put the animals first and will work with you to see that a job gets done within your means.
As I have stated time and time again, my main focus in shearing is to provide and affordable shearing option without sacrificing the quality of the job and the owner satisfaction. Most small flock shearers out there are inexperienced or just starting out which makes them affordable but you are never guarenteed a top notch clip. Large flock shearers are typically overpriced, unavailible, and dislike dealing with the variations in shearing conditions that comes with shearing for small flocks.
My goal in shearing is to bridge that gap and provide small flock owners with the expereince, availibility and the affordability that the contientious owner wants with out sacrificing your animals or your fiber product. As a shearer I am constantly fine tuning my skills and learning more about my industry and my craft. I hope that on top of being your shearer I can be both a resource to you for your sheep and wool needs and be a vital link in you animal management plan.
