Chamelin Shearing

Just a little bit more about me for those of you who may be interested. I started out in sheep when I was 15 by adopting a pair of bummer lambs from a local shepherd. This led to an interesting 4-H project that lasted for a few years. In the meantime I had a horrible time finding someone who was willing and affordable to come out and shear my small flock. I ended up having to drive them around to different farms to get someone to shear them and it soon became a big pain.

Having grown up with dairy goats and showing them I was familiar with clippers and after the second year of shearing stress I decided I should be able to do it myself and so my career was born.

I started out by attending the Maryland Sheep Shearing School and found that I had some aptitude for it because I was already familiar with the clippers. From there I had a few small flocks sent my way and started to build a clientele. For the first few years I only sheared for a few families a year but continued to add to my numbers each year.  I continued to attend shearing school and made every attempt to learn as much as possible.

Our Business

My business is to shear. I shear most fiber animals including sheep, angora goats, llamas and alpacas. I strive to be affordable to the small flock owner as well as doing a top quality job on every animal I handle. I seek to handle the animals in a calm, controlled manor and limit cuts. I also seek to be availible to my shearing clients not only to provide shearing in a timely manor for them but also for additional services like hoof trimming and wormning. By being availible I hope to become a key part of your animal care plan.
